Terms & Conditions

Please find below the terms and conditions of our classes. You must read and accept them before signing up for classes at Languages4Life:

1. Course payment and signing up

  • After taking a level test, your place on the course will be confirmed once you have paid in full.
  • The course book is included if you sign up to at least one month of classes. For shorter courses you will be provided with photocopies.
  • We reserve the right to cancel your reservation for non-payment.
  • You are not permitted to defer your course once it has started. All course fees are non-refundable. The dates of the booking cannot be modified once the course has started.

2. Terms of classes

  • All students with the exception of those at the level of beginner are required to take a level test.
  • The maximum number of students per class is eight.
  • All comments, claims, schedule changes, etc. should be made to the school coordinators and directors, not to the teachers.
  • Classes that are missed due to a student’s absence cannot be recovered. If a student misses 2 weeks or more of class for whatever reason, they will be required to take an exam in order to re-enter at the level they were in and will need to repeat the level if they do not pass.
  • Languages4Life reserves the right to change a student’s group or offer other classes to those who, for any reason can not keep pace with the group or do not integrate into it properly.
  • If the number of students in a group is reduced to less than 4, Languages4Life reserves the right to make adjustments (reset time, reduced hours, integrate into another group).
  • Languages4Life reserves the right to cancel a course which does not meet the minimum number of students. In case of any cancellation by Languages4Life of a course which has not yet started, students will be reimbursed the full amount for the reservation or any other payment that has been made in advance.
  • Languages4Life reserves the right to change course structures and timetables when necessary.
  • For organizational reasons the school may have to substitute a course teacher. All substitute teachers are experienced and qualified.
  • The school is closed on local and national public holidays as well as Holy Week, and the first and last weeks of every year. Classes that coincide with holidays will not be made up, unless specifically agreed upon.
  • To be eligible for Diplomas at Languages4Life, students must take and pass exams for each level. Also Languages4Life, upon request of a student, can produce a Certificate of Attendance to the course. To receive this certificate, you must have attended 80% or more of the classes.
  • Languages4Life will integrate into its curriculum and promote the preparation of the following official exams: DELE (Cervantes Institute), University Certificates Cambridge PET, FCE, CAE, CPE and TOEFL and TOEIC (ETS – Educational Testing Services) and GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Council).

3. Cancellation and refund policy

  • After taking a level test, your place on the course will be confirmed once you have paid in full.
    • Cancellations 14 days before the start date of the course: 75% refund of the amount paid.
    • Cancellations between 13 and 8 days before the course starts: 50% refund of the amount paid.
    • Cancellations less than 8 days before the starting date will not be entitled to any refund.
    • The costs of missed classes due to illness, early return, late arrival, force majeure, etc. will not be refunded.
  • Refunds will be made using the same method of payment you used to book their course.
  • Where a refund is given any bank charges related to transfers and exchange rate movements will be deducted from the refundable amount due.
  • Once a course has begun:

  • When you cancel any course for any reason, the amount paid and not used is not refundable. However, Languages4Life may issue a voucher for you with a validity of 1 year to be used to attend a future course.
  • The amount paid for accommodation is not refundable.
  • Any enrollment fee is not refundable.

4. Student visas

  • You must pay course fees in full at least two weeks before any appointment at the consulate to allow sufficient time to prepare and send documents.
  • You must pay the fees for shipping these documents in advance. This is typically 50€ and the letter will be sent by DHL courier.
  • In the unlikely event of a student visa being denied, the course fees will be refunded to you within 90 days of receiving notice of denial. Languages4Life will withhold 300€ of the total cost to cover its expenses. If the motive for denial is attributable to the school itself, a full refund may be considered.
  • If you have been issued with the school’s official documents for the purpose of applying for a visa, you cannot change the end date of your course once it has started.
  • If your visa has been approved, no refunds or changes to the class timetable can be made.
  • Once a course has begun:

  • If you plan to miss a class you must give written notice to let the coordinator know you won’t be attending.
  • If you miss class for more than two weeks without notice, we reserve the right to cancel your group. If you wish to continue you will be required to wait until a new group becomes available.
  • Students on a 12 month student visa will have 22 days of holiday from class. Public holidays are not included.
  • Students on shorter student visas will have the corresponding proportion of holidays, i.e. students on 6 month student visas will have 11 days of holiday, etc.

5. Private classes

  • If you are doing private classes you have the right to cancel classes and reschedule them, provided that the school receives notice of cancellation 24 hours in advance in writing, and from Monday to Friday between 9:00 and 21:00.
  • If you cancel the class with less than 24 hours notice, the class will not be rescheduled. Nonetheless, it is necessary to notify the school at least one hour before the class’ scheduled time.
  • The teacher shall be available to teach the class for 30 minutes after the scheduled time of any given class. If you do not show up, nor is there any notice to the school that you are not coming, the class will be canceled due to lack of attendance. If you are delayed, the lost time won’t be made up for. If the delay is greater than 30 minutes, the teacher is not obliged to wait and the class will be cancelled.

6. Student conduct

    All students are required to attend classes and notify the school in case of absence. The school reserves the right to expel any student who repeatedly fails to comply with the basic standards of behavior and respect to teachers, peers, the host family or any other member of staff or infringes the laws of the country, which will entail dismissal from the course and accommodation without the right to any refund.

7. Extra Services

    Languages4Life offers you the following services to enhance your learning experience:

  • Unlimited access to the internet on iMac computers during Languages4Life‘s opening hours.
  • Access to the library and study area.
  • Access to the the sun-porch lounge.
  • Internet access for mobile devices via a protected wifi network.
  • Advice about the city, housing, banks, visas, restaurants, etc. from seasoned city dwellers.
  • Reception of mail, packages, calls, e-mails and faxes.
  • Books and videos on loan.
  • Cultural and extra-curricular activities.
  • Languages Exchange with other students.

8. Insurance and Health

  • Languages4Life has Civil Liability Insurance which covers any potencial incidents or minor accidents which may occur in its center.
  • Languages4Life will not be responsible for the loss or theft of any personal property.
  • Languages4Life recommends students from abroad to take up an Insurance Policy which would cover any potential problems which could come up during their trip and their stay with us, such as illness, loss of luggage, cancellation of the course, Civil Liability.

9. Covid19 and Health Measures

  • Languages4Life follows the health and safety measures recommended by the government, and therefore reserves the right to adjust the maximum number of students allowed in the school, restructure groups and classes as appropriate, as well as cancelling them in case of risk of infection.
  • In case of a school closure, Languages4Life will offer online classes as an alternative.
  • If necessary, Languages4Life reserves the right to offer a minimum service, such as a reduced timetable or change the teacher, as required.
  • Languages4Life reserves the right to not make any refunds in case of cancellations by the student.
